The Team

Occupational Therapy Services at Hospitals North West provide high‐quality, client‐centred occupational therapy to inpatients, outpatients and community clients across the North West region of Tasmania. The team works as part of a multidisciplinary health‐care environment, supporting consumers across medical, surgical, rehabilitation and orthopaedic services, as well as paediatrics and community‐based programmes. As part of the Department of Health, the service is committed to delivering safe, inclusive and evidence‐based care to improve outcomes for individuals, families and the broader Tasmanian community. The team values collaboration, learning and professional growth, and provides structured supervision and support to enable clinicians to develop strong, well‐rounded clinical skills.

The Role

This role is suitable for a new graduate or an experienced occupational therapist, offering a supported development programme within Occupational Therapy Services. You will have the opportunity to rotate across a range of service areas, building clinical capability through a diverse caseload and a strong community focus. The position offers structured supervision and professional support, making it ideal for clinicians early in their career, while also providing scope for experienced therapists to further develop and diversify their skills.

Responsibilities

* Deliver occupational therapy assessments and interventions for inpatients, outpatients and community clients across a rotating caseload
* Work collaboratively with senior occupational therapists and multidisciplinary team members to achieve positive client outcomes
* Participate in professional development, quality improvement initiatives and service planning activities in line with departmental priorities

You will need

* A commitment to delivering person‐centred, safe and culturally responsive care
* Demonstrated knowledge of, or a strong foundation in, contemporary occupational therapy theory and the ability to apply this in hospital, outpatient and community settings
* Well‐developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Details of appointment

Permanent, part‐time, day worker position, working 53.2 hours per fortnight, commencing ASAP. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Additional hours may be available on a fixed‐term basis, depending on service needs.

Salary

$73,834 to $111,364 per annum (pro rata). Our employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging

You'll have access to a salary package that includes living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 each FBT year, plus other benefits if eligible.

* Professional Development Allowance of up to $1,000 per annum

* Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for overseas appointees and up to $10,000 for interstate appointees

Eligibility

* Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia
* Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
* Current Working with Children Registration

Desirable criteria:

* Current driver's licence
* Post‐graduate qualifications relevant to the delivery of occupational therapy services
