This is a unique opportunity to become part of a busy Cardiology practice providing specialist cardiac care to both public and private patients in the NT.
The successful candidate will join NT Cardiac Pty Ltd, a well-established private cardiology practice located at Darwin Private Hospital (DPH), adjacent to Royal Darwin Hospital. The Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is a 345-bed tertiary hospital, designated as the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre, and affiliated with Flinders University, Charles Darwin University, and Menzies School of Health Research. The catchment area includes urban communities, regional hospitals, and remote Aboriginal communities, serving a population of approximately 240,000, with patients transferred from Western Australia and Timor.
NT Cardiac has a long-term public-private partnership with the NT Government to provide contracted cardiac diagnostic services, including Echocardiography, Diagnostic Coronary Angiography/Angioplasty, and Electrophysiology Services to public patients in the Northern Territory. This combined public-private practice has been recognized for providing high-standard care across sectors.
Diagnostic services include Exercise Stress Testing, Holter Monitoring, Transthoracic and Trans-oesophageal Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiogram, CT coronary angiography, and Diagnostic Coronary Angiogram. The practice also performs coronary interventions. Cardiac devices such as Loop Recorders, Pacemakers, Defibrillators, and CRT devices are implanted. The electrophysiology service offers comprehensive care for complex arrhythmias, equipped with 3D mapping and Cryoablation systems for complex arrhythmia management.
The ideal candidate will have completed an advanced clinical fellowship in cardiac device and rhythm management at a reputable center, with experience in electrophysiology procedures including studies and radiofrequency ablation of arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation via pulmonary vein isolation, and a thorough knowledge of arrhythmia management. They should also have training in the safe implantation and follow-up of cardiac rhythm devices.
Applicants must be eligible for registration with AHPRA (Medical Board of Australia) and hold a Cardiology Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent overseas qualifications.
