About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Purchasing Team Member to join our food service purchasing team. This role is ideal for someone seeking to start a career in the food service industry and gain hands-on experience in purchasing, supplier coordination, and stock management.
You will work closely with experienced team members and suppliers, learning how food service purchasing operates in a fast-paced, commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Raise and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner
* Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, product availability, and delivery schedules
* Coordinate and manage internal branch transfers, ensuring stock is moved efficiently between branches or warehouses to meet demand
* Monitor inventory levels and identify potential shortages or overstock situations
* Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing, and supplier records
* Communicate with internal branches to understand stock requirements and delivery timelines
* Assist with purchasing reports and data entry
* Follow food safety, quality assurance, and company compliance requirements
* Provide general administrative support to the purchasing team as required
About You
* Keen to build a career in the food service distribution industry
* Strong attention to detail and good numerical skills
* Well organised and able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks
* Clear communicator with a positive, can-do attitude
* Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and basic computer systems
* Willing to learn and work collaboratively in a team environment
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in administration, hospitality, or supply chain is an advantage but not essential
* Interest in purchasing, inventory management, or logistics is highly regarded
