The Opportunity
Lithgow City Council is seeking applications for a keen and motivated person to join their team as an Information Technology (IT) Trainee for a period of two (2) years. Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in maintaining efficient information and communications services to all sections of Lithgow City Council. Your role will be part of a team that supports, assists and advises on communication, technical, software and hardware issues.
For the duration of the Traineeship you will undertake formal training in Information Technology (IT) as well as gaining practical on-the‐job experience.
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
* Provide a high level of customer support to Council IT users including desktop, mobile device and printing support
* Monitoring IT Helpdesk
* Providing technical assistance with the rollout and monitoring of equipment
* Assisting in the replacing and upgrading of devices
* Assist in the rollout of new equipment.
* Monitor printer status for consumables usage
* Provide assistance to staff with Microsoft Office product
* Assist in replacement/upgrade of mobile devices
* Assist in maintenance of Council websites and social media

About You
* Demonstrated interest in Information Technology
* Commitment to the two year time period required to complete the traineeship.
* Experience with Microsoft Office
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Commitment to Work Health and Safety
* Demonstrated Commitment to the principles of honesty and integrity
In addition, an ideal candidate would have sound knowledge of the internet, ability to work in a team environment and a Class C drivers licence.
Salary and Benefits
* Between $601.70 and $1,023.00 per week, commensurate with your age, skills, qualifications and experience
* Temporary two (2) year traineeship
* Full-time, 35 hours per week
