Senior Legal Counsel - Infrastructure and Energy
Our client is a prominent organisation in the energy sector in Australia. This is a fantastic chance to gain exposure to working on multi-billion dollar major infrastructure projects to facilitate the move towards a renewable energy based system. This role will be a mix of project delivery, energy, and general corporate work, and can be tailored to suit the individual with experience in energy, infrastructure and/or construction.
Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and other documents associated with infrastructure projects.
- Provide assistance on the development of project frameworks and proactive risk management approaches.
- Manage external lawyers and act as a trusted advisor to the business and other project teams from the approvals stage to construction and delivery thereafter.
- Provide generalist advice in relation to planning and environment, construction, and employment law.
- Keep abreast of changes in the regulatory landscape and educate the business on how these changes will impact them.
- Liaise with government agencies and departments in respect of matters affecting major projects.
Ideal Candidate
- Admitted to practice in Australia or New Zealand.
- Minimum 7 years PAE with experience in major projects, infrastructure, construction and/or energy from time spent in private practice and/or inhouse.
- Strong commercial drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills.
- Ability to work well as a team and autonomously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
