A dynamic NSW Government team dedicated to strengthening the night‑time economy is seeking a Senior Program Officer – Economics. You will join the Data & Research unit supporting the
Data After Dark
initiative, working closely with local councils participating in a major state program.
Your New Role
In this position, you will act as a subject‑matter expert, helping councils use economic data to shape policy and service delivery in their night‑time economies.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing tools, guides, and resources to help councils interpret data
* Delivering 1‑on‑1 data coaching sessions
* Planning and drafting customised night‑time economy reports
* Supporting councils to identify high‑value data use cases
* Promoting internal 'data champions' and strengthening data‑informed culture
This is a full‑time (35 hours/week) hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week in the Haymarket office. Although the contract runs to 30 June,
the program is expected to continue, and extension beyond the financial year is very likely
.
What You'll Need to Succeed
* Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience in economic data analysis
* Strong communication and storytelling skills, able to translate complex ideas clearly
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and coaching ability
* Collaborative approach to working across teams and with external partners
* High standards of integrity and judgement when managing sensitive information
