Logan and Beaudesert Health Service are seeking a Director to lead the Obstetrics and Gynaecology medical staff in the provision of safe, high quality and continuously improving clinical services across Logan and Beaudesert Health Service.
Purpose of the roleProvide strategic and clinical leadership for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Logan and Beaudesert Health Service (LBHS), ensuring safe, high-quality, and continually improving clinical care.Collaborate with consumers and stakeholders across the Women's & Children's Service Line, LBHS and Metro South Health to align services with community needs and strategic priorities.Co-lead interdisciplinary education, training, and professional development initiatives in line with professional standards and organisational goals.Actively drive the achievement of LBHS strategies, plans, and key performance indicators.

Your key responsibilitiesLeadership and Management Lead and collaborate for the delivery, development, and redesign of clinical services to meet the specific needs of the communities served by the Logan and Beaudesert Health Service, in line with MSH strategic priorities and relevant standards.Champion and serve as a role model for a culture that delivers effective person-centred clinical services, professional excellence, collaborative interdisciplinary practice, and physical and psychological safety and wellbeing.Actively model and promote the organisational values.Lead the ongoing development of the workforce with a focus on commitment to clinical excellence, effective interdisciplinary teamwork and continuous, rigorous improvement.Develop and lead an effective, sustainable system of clinical governance that demonstrates the safety and quality of services and is sensitive to clinically relevant variance.Lead the successful delivery of strategic and operational initiatives that meet key priorities and performance indicator requirements, including timely patient access, activity, efficient resource utilisation and budget integrity.Participate in performance and professional development review and training as required and manage this for staff within the department.Clinical Responsibilities Actively participate in the provision of clinical services including the Consultant after-hours on call roster and weekend roster for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.Provide expert clinical services at Logan Hospital and support clinical services at the Beaudesert Hospital through the provision of authoritative advice and clinical guidance, in line with the CSCF for each hospital.Participate and deliver a range of obstetrics and gynaecology services to the community, including outreach (e.g.
community clinics, Beaudesert Hospital).Provide clinical supervision for registrars and junior medical staff.Communicate with other staff of the Hospital on matters of mutual interest relating to patient care.Educational Responsibilities Oversee the provision of high-quality Obstetrics and Gynaecology education and training for medical students and junior medical staff, including Interns, Resident Medical Officers and Registrars / Principal House Officers.If nominated within the department as a RANZCOG Training Supervisor, fulfil the responsibilities of a training supervisor (includes ensuring that 10 hours of clinical support time (protected) annually is applied to the supervision of a trainee allocated to that supervisor).Fulfil any responsibilities as a clinical supervisor, including required training.Support the ongoing education for multidisciplinary team members.Promote patient and staff safety, effective teamwork, collaboration and respectful professional relationships by maximising opportunities for interdisciplinary education and training.Support senior medical staff in the department to maintain their professional competency and development through appropriate continuing educational activities.Research Initiate, encourage and participate in research, evaluation and evidence-based treatment aimed at achieving demonstrable improvements in clinical and service outcomes, whilst complying with local research governance requirements.Maintenance of Professional Standards Maintain professional standards within the Department as well as contribute to this within the wider hospital.General Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.Liaise and work effectively in a professional manner with clients and their carers and family, other health professionals from different disciplines, students and external agencies to achieve a client centred approach, utilising negotiation and conflict resolution skills as required.Actively participate in and facilitate professional and interprofessional team meetings including clinical case conferences and departmental meetings.Foster a culture of interprofessional collaboration and leadership through understanding the role and the roles of others in the interprofessional team leveraging this knowledge to establish and meet client goals and inform service direction.Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.Perform duties as determined by the Service;Perform any other duties directed by the Service which are within their scope of practice and for which they are registered in the State;Perform other provisions related to the duties of the Medical Officer as agreed by the parties;Implement and support clinical interprofessional models of care and patient safety initiatives as required;Support alternative revenue sources and maximise funding for the delivery of service (where appropriate);Participate in an annual performance review;Lead and manage staff by fostering and committing to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by maintaining and evaluating safety and quality practices and initiatives.Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds, gender, identity, ages or abilities.

Demonstrated ability to demonstrate a high level of leadership, aligning with organisational values.Specialist knowledge and understanding of the clinical practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.Possession of a high degree of initiative and decision-making ability, along with sound clinical knowledge, in order to make important and ethically informed decisions on a day-to-day basis.Proven ability to foster safe, high-quality health care, derived from sound knowledge of the concepts of patient safety, human factors and improvement.Demonstrated commitment to provide specialist leadership for clinical and service improvement activities and to initiate, encourage and participate in a culture of research, evaluation and evidence-based oversight aimed at creating a high-level performance culture within the service.Effective time management skills and reliability in meeting deadlines and commitments.Sound knowledge and demonstrated understanding of human resource management issues, including workplace health and safety, equal opportunity and anti-discrimination and demonstrated commitment to their implementation.Demonstrated ability to lead a positive and collaborative interdisciplinary work environment to achieve high quality person-centred care.High level communication skills with the ability to:assist in leading a team consisting of clinical staff of various ages, skills and knowledge,mediate concerns and facilitate problem-solving between various stakeholders,counsel patients, andappropriately and sensitively manage complaints from both staff members and patients.
