Product Development Engineer - Plumbing and Gas products (Junior to Mid-Level) Step up and own your projects from start to finish.

Join a leading Australian manufacturer recognised for engineering innovation across water, gas, and refrigeration systems. With strong in-house R&D and global manufacturing partnerships, this company delivers reliable, high-quality products trusted worldwide.

They're seeking a junior to mid-level Product Development Engineer to take full ownership of projects in the Water Systems division - an ideal role for a technically sharp engineer who loves problem-solving, coordination, and results.

About the Role

You will be responsible for end‑to‑end product delivery - from concept to launch.

Given a brief and a set of requirements, you'll drive the outcome: coordinating stakeholders, managing suppliers, testing compliance, and getting products to market.

This is a hands‑on role, not one where work is passed down the line. You'll be involved in everything from supplier negotiations to testing and documentation. It's fast‑paced, varied, and perfect for engineers who learn by doing.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage complete product development projects from concept to delivery
* Liaise with suppliers, test labs, and certifiers to meet compliance and quality standards
* Conduct competitor reviews and comparative testing
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders to drive decision‑making and approvals
* Perform DFMEA, verification testing, and manage engineering documentation
* Negotiate product and tooling costs with suppliers
* Conduct factory assessments (in‑person or via video) for quality, technical, and commercial standards
* Oversee production quality, supplier performance, and reporting
* Support marketing and sales teams in product launches, field trials, and training

About You

* Degree‑qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
* 2-5 years' experience, ideally including exposure to product development or manufacturing
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
* Confident communicator with strong coordination and negotiation skills
* Mandarin speaking is an advantage (many suppliers are based in Asia)
* Highly organised, analytical, and commercially minded
* Self‑motivated, proactive, and hands‑on - thrives on getting things done
* Perfect for a bright, early‑career engineer who's not drawn to design but loves project ownership and tangible results

Why You'll Love It

* Complete ownership of projects - see your work through from start to finish
* Learn directly from senior engineers in a supportive, high‑performing team
* Gain exposure to international suppliers, testing labs, and compliance processes
* Diverse, challenging projects - no two days are the same
* Strong company culture focused on integrity, innovation, and delivery

If you're a motivated engineer ready to take on full responsibility and see your work hit the market, this is your opportunity to grow fast and make a real impact.
