Role purpose Retail Design Manager Design Strategy & Projects – Retail Design We’re looking for a passionate and commercially minded Retail Design Specialist to shape the look and feel of our centres and elevate the retailer experience. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, stakeholder influence, and project delivery — and who wants to see their work come to life across some of Australia’s most iconic retail environments. What You’ll Be Doing Design Strategy & Delivery Build early relationships with retailers and their designers, ensuring they understand Vicinity’s Design Guidelines, drawing requirements, and project timelines. Review and challenge design submissions for your allocated centres, influencing outcomes to align with our design aspirations and precinct vision. Provide retail-driven design solutions that enhance brand presence and support sales performance. Monitor design submission milestones to ensure timely permits, procurement, and tendering ahead of handover. Attend shopfitter pre-start meetings to clarify details and ensure builds align with approved drawings. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration Partner with Tenancy Delivery and Operations teams to monitor fitout progress, identify defects early, and ensure on-time openings. Contribute to Asset Team Alignment Meeting (A TAM ) meetings and provide design insights that support leasing strategies. Produce monthly Design showcase and mallscape s to keep Leasing and internal teams informed on new and upcoming fitouts. Prepare quarterly showcase decks highlighting before-and-after tenancy uplifts. Leasing Support Deliver Design Critique Reports (DCRs) for lease renewals and refit opportunities that enhance presentation and add commercial value. Collaborate with Leasing and Delivery teams to provide design input for reconfigurations and ambience projects. Work closely with the relevant Leasing Teams on future Asset strategies and early engagement with retailers Key Relationships Leasing Tenancy Delivery Centre Teams Tenants, Designers & Shopfitters What You Bring Essential Experience A qualification in Architecture or Interior Design. Critical Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of architectural and structural building components. Proven project management ability across multiple concurrent projects. Excellent communication skills — verbal, written, visual and negotiation. Strong visual presentation skills, including cost planning and scheduling. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat/ InDesign and CAD. Highly organised, relationship-oriented, and effective across diverse groups. Customer-focused mindset, with the ability to translate feedback into design outcomes. Innovative thinker who contributes to new solutions, processes, and efficiencies. Comfortable navigating change to drive productivity and performance. Ability to standardise processes and identify opportunities to mitigate risk.
