Position Overview

Part‐time (38 hours per fortnight), max‐term until June 2027.
Based in Ballarat.
As a Prison Exit Housing Worker you will provide housing information, referral and assessments in the Ararat and Langi Kal Kal prisons to clients with complex housing needs. In this role you will work towards reducing incidents of homelessness and improving the transitional experience of people exiting prison, with the aim of reducing re‐offending through the provision of housing and support.

Qualifications and Skills
* Tertiary qualifications in human services, welfare or social services or substantial years of relevant experience.
* Experience and sound knowledge of the underlying principles of the Prison Exit Program, gained through experience, education or training.
* Knowledge and experience of homelessness and housing systems and how they impact people who are part of the justice system.
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
* Knowledge of the statutory requirements related to the Prison Exit Program.
* An understanding of the impacts of homelessness in relation to re‐offending rates of prisoners.
* Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
