Researcher/Analyst, Report Writing, Waitangi Tribunal Unit
The Waitangi Tribunal Unit provides a comprehensive range of services to the Waitangi Tribunal, a permanent commission of inquiry that inquires into and reports on claims submitted by Māori under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.
Responsibilities
* Assist with drafting of Waitangi Tribunal reports and provide advice and analysis throughout the report drafting process.
* Collaborate closely with other Tribunal Unit staff, the judiciary and Tribunal members.
Qualifications
* Strong verbal and written communication and analytical skills.
* Ability to plan and prioritise work, using initiative and effective communication with a strong focus on customer service.
* Experience working in a fast‐paced environment with multiple workstreams.
* Team player who is highly collaborative and able to inspire and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Understanding of, and commitment to, the work of the Waitangi Tribunal; knowledge of te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori is beneficial.
* Tertiary qualification in New Zealand history, Māori studies, public policy, law or other relevant disciplines, and preferably a post‐graduate degree or relevant professional experience.
* Submit a writing sample that demonstrates professional writing skills, no more than 20 pages in length.
Benefits & Salary
Salary Range: $67,066 – $90,008 based on skills and experience.
