About PCA Ground Engineering
PCA Ground Engineering is a design-and-construct piling and ground‑engineering contractor delivering complex foundation solutions across Queensland and NSW. Our piling capabilities include ductile iron piles (DIPs), CFA, bored piles, micropiles, driven systems, and retention structures.
We are seeking a Site Engineer to join our Piling Division - someone who wants genuine career progression, hands‑on experience, and the opportunity to be mentored directly by senior operational and engineering leaders. This role suits someone who wants accountability for their work, is proactive, and enjoys solving technical and site challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Support daily engineering functions for piling projects including site setup, QA, pile logs, ITPs, NCRs, as-builts, and reinforcement/concrete compliance.
* Ensure all piling works comply with AS2159, TfNSW and MRTS standards.
* Assist with procurement, supplier coordination, materials ordering, and plant logistics.
* Work closely with supervisors, rig crews, clients, and internal teams to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
* Track daily production, concrete volumes, consumables, spoil, steel usage, and develop accurate quantity reports.
* Maintain project cost controls, including tracking labour, materials, subcontractors, and key cost drivers.
* Support preparation and timely submission of:
o Extensions of Time (EOTs)
o Variations (measured, costed & supported with evidence)
o Progress Claims / Payment Claims in accordance with the relevant Security of Payment Act for the applicable state (e.g. Qld BIFA, NSW SOP Act).
* Identify risks early, assist with mitigation measures, and propose practical technical or sequencing solutions.
* Maintain high-quality site documentation, ITP compliance, photos, hold points, and conformance to PCA’s accredited management system.
Essential Requirements
* Direct piling experience to AS2159, and/or TfNSW and MRTS piling specifications.
* 2–5 years site engineering experience (open to mature graduates with strong life experience and the right mindset).
* Survey and setout experience, including:
* Setting out piles, offsets, grids and levels
* Confident use of laser levels
* Basic use of a total station (full proficiency desirable but not mandatory)
* Strong communication skills, able to deal with rig crews, supervisors, consultants and clients.
* Willingness to travel regularly across Queensland and NSW.
* Practical, hands‑on mindset and willingness to ask questions and learn quickly.
* Ability to run small work packages including ordering materials, site setup and basic budgeting.
* Familiarity with project cost tracking and site financial administration (advantageous).
