About The Organisation:

This organisation protects the country's environment and economy by managing biosecurity risks, regulating imports/exports, and ensuring food safety.

About the Role

This organisation is looking for APS4 Biosecurity Officers to join the Biosecurity Operations Division in Darwin. These non-ongoing positions support critical operations across two pathways:

* Military Operations – full-time roles commencing March 2026
* Travellers Operations – part-time shift roles commencing April 2026

Successful candidates will conduct inspections, assess compliance, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Australia's biosecurity standards are met.

Classification/Level: APS4

Location: Darwin, NT

Contract Type : Permanent Non-ongoing

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Requirements:

* Australian Citizenship
* Ability and willingness to obtain Security clearance
* Valid Australian Driver's Licence
* Willingness to work out-of-hours, weekends, and overtime as required
* Ability to complete Biosecurity Foundation Program training
* Compliance with uniform, PPE, and workplace safety requirements
* Successful National Coordinated Criminal History check and medical assessment.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct biosecurity inspections, compliance checks, and operational risk assessments.
* Support both Military and Travellers Operations pathways.
* Maintain accurate records, reports, and operational documentation.
* Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Apply departmental policies and procedures consistently.
* Participate in training, briefings, and operational exercises.

Desirable:

* Operational Experience: Prior military or operational experience highly desirable.
* Attention to Detail: Strong ability to collect, record, and report accurate data.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in dynamic operational environments.
* Compliance & Governance: Understanding of regulatory frameworks and procedures.
* Flexibility: Willingness to work full-time or part-time shifts, adapt to operational demands.
