The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Drafter to join our dynamic drafting team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for producing highly detailed and coordinated shop drawings for large-scale and technically complex pipework systems, including HVAC, chilled water, heating, and specialist mechanical services.
You will play a critical part in the successful delivery of major construction projects, collaborating closely with project engineers, BIM coordinators, and site teams to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Produce and coordinate detailed mechanical shop drawings for HVAC and piping systems
* Work across a variety of commercial and institutional projects, including hospitals, data centres, and high-rise developments
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and site requirements
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve design and coordination issues
* Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, Australian standards, and relevant codes
* Participate in clash detection and coordination meetings using BIM and 3D modelling tools
* Support junior drafters and contribute to team knowledge sharing and best practices
About You:
* Minimum 5+ years’ drafting experience in the building services sector
* Strong experience producing shop drawings for large, complex piping systems
* Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit (Navisworks and BIM 360 experience highly desirable)
* Excellent understanding of mechanical services systems and construction methodologies
* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications with confidence
* Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
* Strong communication and team collaboration abilities
