Bussells Bushland Cottages – Margaret River WA
Bussells Bushland Cottages (BBC) occupies 20 hectares (50 acres) of beautiful bushland in the heart of Margaret River region with 8 rammed earth cottages for short term stay holiday accommodation. The property is situated 5 minutes drive from central Margaret River town.
Role
We are looking for a Manager/Caretaker to oversee the property and lead the management of guest visits. This role can be shared between 2 managers who will live on the property and operate the business 7 days a week between them, but on the basis of a restricted number of hours per day.
Applicants must hold Australian permanent residency or citizenship to be eligible for this position.
This role would suit applicants with hospitality and administrative experience, strong organizational skills and a passion for the Margaret River region and local ties to the community. General property care, maintenance, and safety experience are an added advantage. Visitors to BBC enjoy the bush environment and the successful applicant must be able to show that they will work with the owners to maintain the quality of this asset and contribute to the long term success of the business.
General duties
* Administrative and office responsibilities including end to end guest experience and booking management, maintenance of reservation records, vendor & supplier management, inventory management
* Care and general maintenance of the cottages and bush block and attendance to minor repairs. Coordinating major property repairs via contractors and overseeing the regular maintenance program
* Oversight of cleaning team
Skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong sense of responsibility, integrity and teamwork
* Self sufficient and comfortable working with minimal supervision
* Strong computer literacy for reporting and communication
* Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and hand-on approach to problem solving
* Basic handyman skills for property maintenance and minor repair tasks
* Previous property or hotel management experience advantageous but not necessary
REMUNERATION PACKAGE
This is a live-in position offering on-site accommodation and utilities as part of the package.
This role may be fulfilled on a full time basis by 1 manager or between 2 managers on a pro rated part-time basis with an approximate annual package of $145,000.
Note: The manager/s house is a 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom rammed earth building with an office off the main bedroom. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms open off a side verandah.
This remuneration package is inclusive of compensation for working outside of normal working hours, weekends and public holidays in completing the required duties of your role, which will not be compensated additionally. Use of personal car for small errands is required.
Annual leave entitlements will accrue based on pro-rata basis based on the ordinary hours of work as set out in the Hospitality Industry (General) Award (MA000009) and applicable legislation.
For applicants that are couples that wish to share the role responsibilities, they may also engage in external part time employment.
Reporting
The Manager will report directly to the owners in respect of all matters relating to the property and to the business.
