The Youth Work Practitioner roles closely with the Senior Youth Work team to support the delivery of evidence informed youth services to students enrolled at ACT Public schools. The Youth Work Practitioner team use their skills and experience to deliver individual and group programs for students/schools presenting with complex needs while also contributing to the professional practice and upskilling of school-based youth workers. Youth Work Practitioners deliver multi-tiered supports to schools through a data-informed and needs-based process to ensure equity across ACT public schools. The Youth Work Practitioner team works closely with the WinS Social Work team. The Youth Work Lead provides practice and operational leadership to the team. The WinS Director oversees the service delivery and design, and the Clinical Practice Senior Director provides strategic and policy direction of the Service. The ideal candidate has experience in leading and supporting professionals capable of providing timely, high-quality services. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of supports and be familiar with education settings and can impact positively on student outcomes through developing a strong understanding of needs, strengthening communication, building capacity in schools and championing Directorate commitments to continuous improvement. Eligibility/Other requirements: Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au) Highly Desirable Possession of a current driver’s licence The Youth Work Practitioner role requires that applicants have obtained, at a minimum, an Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent. Access to a private vehicle with comprehensive insurance A minimum of three years work experience in youth work or equivalent. Relevant experience in education or a related area. A comprehensive knowledge of youth services and programs in the ACT, and established connections with the ACT Youth and Community Sector. Completion or willingness to undertake training: such as Trauma Informed Practice, Cultural Awareness, Youth Mental Health First Aid and Alcohol and other drug harm minimisation.
