Social Worker First Nations Graduate, Queensland Health

We have an amazing opportunity available for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples who are interested in kickstarting a career as a First Nations Graduate Social Worker

* We are seeking motivated First Nation individuals who want to gain hands on experience in Social Work and contribute to better health outcomes for Indigenous communities.
* Temporary Full-time opportunity for up 2 years


About the role

This identified, temporary position (24 months) graduate position will be primarily based at Laidley Hospital. It offers a supportive and culturally safe environment where you will work closely with experienced Social Workers in a rural setting, while receiving enhanced training, development, and cultural mentoring.

As part of the First Nations Graduate Pathway Program, you will benefit from:

* Dedicated development time for training, project work, and cultural mentoring
* Enrolment in the IAHA Leadership Program, plus modules in Project Management Skills and Quality Improvement.
* Participation in cultural mentoring with other First Nations graduates.
* Cultural support through mentoring, First Nations staff check-ins, Elders morning teas, and participation in West Moreton Health cultural events.
* A clear pathway to permanent employment upon successful completion of the program


Mandatory Requirements:

* Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
* To perform this role, it essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 the applications are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
