Job Title: Public Health Coordinator
Job Summary:
This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of health promotion initiatives and community development strategies within the community. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of public health principles and practices.
Responsibilities:
* Program Development:
1. Develop and implement health promotion programs and materials to address chronic diseases, nutrition, sexual health, alcohol, physical activity, and smoking.
* Collaboration and Partnerships:
1. Work with internal staff, community members, and stakeholders to develop and implement health promotion initiatives and community development strategies.
* Research and Evaluation:
1. Conduct research to identify priority areas for health promotion and evaluate existing initiatives to ensure effective services.
* Administration:
1. Undertake electronic record-keeping of statistics to support performance measures required by funding organisations.
2. Assist in planning and coordinating events, promoting health calendar events, and health promotion topics using tools like Noongar Radio.
Requirements:
* Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background or strong cultural awareness.
* Certificate IV in Aboriginal Health or a Certificate in Marketing, Promotions, Public Relations, or Business.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of public health principles and practices.
* High-level verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and experience working in a multi-disciplinary, multicultural team environment.
* Willingness to undertake specialist training in Health Promotion.
* Computer literacy skills and knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Relations, and Equal Employment Opportunity Legislation.
* Current Working with Children Check, Western Australian Drivers Licence, Fully Covid-19 Vaccinated, and National Police Clearance (not older than 6 months).
