About The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Surveillance & Communications Program based in Adelaide & Melbourne, reporting to the Systems Engineering Lead. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9‑day fortnight and/or hybrid working. We are building something extraordinary in the High Frequency (HF) technology space and are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join us on this journey. This is your chance to be part of a pioneering project that pushes the boundaries of communications technology.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide senior systems engineering input across all stages of the product life cycle, from requirements elicitation through to integration, test and acceptance.
o Determine appropriate requirement sets for use in HF products
o Utilise domain, discipline and systems engineering knowledge to enable, support and deliver products robustly, demonstrating they meet their requirements and are fit for purpose.
o Perform analyses to define and characterise the system and its components.
o Create test plans and procedures in support of the system verification and validation program.
o Provide support to the product integration team, and direct or conduct factory acceptance test activities within the local test facilities (located in Adelaide and Melbourne).
* Provide direction on systems engineering best practice to determine required outputs and successfully achieve project outcomes.
* Provide mentoring and guidance to more junior team members.
* Create and manage systems engineering artefacts within the Jazz suite of requirements management tools (DOORS Next and ETM) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tool Cameo Systems Modeler.
About You
* A university degree level engineering qualification preferably within a Systems, Electronics, Software or Mechatronics discipline.
* Demonstrated systems engineering experience coupled with engineering experience in a relevant discipline.
* Proven ability to function confidently within a project team environment with demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomously.
* Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain necessary deliverables.
* Experience with MBSE – Model Based Systems Engineering – is considered desirable.
* Experience mentoring or directing tasking for junior engineers is beneficial.
* Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1 Clearance.
* Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
