River Community Services and our sister organisation Newcastle Allied Health are expanding our multidisciplinary team and are seeking a Paediatrician or Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our thriving service in the Hunter region.
We are a fast-growing community-based organisation with more than 450 active clients and a full in-house allied health team including Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, OTs, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Early Intervention specialists and Clinical Nurses.
This is an opportunity to step into a well-established, highly collaborative service where diagnostic assessments, clinical reviews, functional assessments, medication reviews, and multidisciplinary planning are all performed under one roof.

* Psychologists and clinical psychologists provide cognitive, developmental, diagnostic, and mental health assessments

We currently support over 450 children, young people, and families across the Hunter, Newcastle, Maitland, and Port Stephens regions — with very strong demand for specialist paediatrics and child psychiatry.
No need to build a caseload from scratch.

Work the Way You Want
We offer full flexibility:
* Full-time or part-time
* Contractor or salaried agreements
* Mixed billing, bulk-billing, or gap-fee service models
* Administrative, referral and reception support
* No on-call requirements
* Work with autonomy, but never in isolation
You set your preferred hours and we manage the rest.

About the Role
Depending on your discipline, your responsibilities may include:
Paediatrician
* Developmental, behavioural and general paediatric assessment
* Diagnostic assessments (ASD, ADHD, neurodevelopmental presentations)
* Ongoing reviews, management plans and care coordination
* Supporting a multidisciplinary diagnostic pathway
* Medication reviews and prescribing
* Collaborative planning with allied health and families
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
* Psychiatric assessments, diagnostic formulation and treatment planning
* ADHD, ASD, complex trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, behavioural concerns
* Medication reviews and ongoing psychiatric management
* Shared care with GPs, psychologists and allied health
* Participation in case conferences, multidisciplinary meetings and consults

What We're Looking For
* Specialist registration with AHPRA in Paediatrics or Psychiatry
* Eligibility for Medicare provider numbers
* Strong interest in a collaborative, multidisciplinary, community-based model
* Commitment to high-quality, family-centred care
* Desire to contribute to assessments, reports, diagnosis and integrated planning

* $220,000 – $300,000 base salary + super
