Role
Part-time (0.6 FTE) – Fixed Term for 3 years.
Salary
A$87,
* / yr – A$118,
* / yr (pro-rata for part-time) plus 17 % superannuation.
Responsibilities
* Lead an industry-funded project investigating key infectious abortions in Victorian sheep, developing novel molecular diagnostics.
* Conduct field investigations : plan and execute sampling strategies across Victorian farms; collect and analyse biological samples.
* Engage with industry stakeholders : collaborate with sheep producers, veterinarians and industry bodies to identify risk factors and develop disease-management strategies.
* Disseminate findings : prepare peer-reviewed publications, present at conferences, and contribute to industry reports.
* Spearhead innovative veterinary research, collaborate with industry leaders, and enhance sheep health.
* Apply cutting-edge research to improve sheep reproductive health and industry practices.
Qualifications
* Qualified veterinarian with a PhD in Veterinary Science (or closely related field).
* Strong research skills and a passion for improving animal health and welfare through innovative diagnostics and epidemiology.
* Experience in molecular diagnostics, especially qPCR assay development and validation.
* Strong epidemiological investigation and data-analysis skills.
* Excellent communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
* Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
* Passion for translating research findings into practical industry outcomes.
