We're seeking an experienced Program Engagement Officer to support the delivery of a major, long-term infrastructure investment program across North Queensland. This role sits within a dedicated Communications and Stakeholder Management team and plays a key part in ensuring projects are delivered with strong community understanding, trust, and support.
You'll work closely with program managers and project teams, providing high-quality communication, stakeholder liaison, and community engagement support across a diverse portfolio of projects.
What You'll Be Doing
* Research and analyse information to prepare high-quality written content, including briefing notes and stakeholder correspondence.
* Develop and implement community engagement plans, including key messages, targeted engagement approaches, and supporting materials.
* Prepare a wide range of communication materials, such as media responses, media releases, ministerial and executive briefings, newsletters, flyers, and display materials.
* Respond to media enquiries and draft clear, accurate media statements.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, community representatives, and internal teams.
* Provide communication and engagement advice that supports positive community outcomes and protects organisational reputation.
* Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with records management and governance standards.
What You'll Bring
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
* Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, community consultation, or communications, ideally within large programs or complex environments.
* Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach to delivering customer-focused outcomes.
* Sound understanding of community engagement best practice and relationship management.
* Experience preparing briefing notes, executive correspondence, and ministerial-style content.
* Ability to manage sensitive issues, reputation, and stakeholder expectations with professionalism and integrity.
* A proactive mindset, with the ability to think strategically, embrace new ideas, and make well-considered decisions.
* Strong respect for governance, policy, and ethical standards.
