The Role
This vital role will see you create, commission and produce high impact news content across on-demand, web, mobile and social platforms, as well as the 7PM News Bulletin. You will focus on broadening ABC audiences and providing depth and understanding through editorially rigorous and creative storytelling.
Job Responsibilities
* Work in a variety of newsroom production roles, which commission cross-platform content and oversee staff, as required, including Supervising Producer and Newsgathering Producer.
* Provide constructive feedback to Content Makers about stories, story assignments and coverage.
* Commission and organise reporters and field operators to provide coverage and content for all network programs and platforms.
* Anticipate national coverage needs across all platforms through close collaboration across several teams, informed by editorial priorities, real-time analytics and coverage planning.
* Manage logistics for breaking News coverage to ensure relevant newsgathering resources are appropriately deployed with high level organisation and logistical planning.
* Oversee newsgathering processes and community expectations; formulate coverage approaches to meet platform and newsroom targets.
* Deliver multiplatform coverage plans for major stories and events such as elections and budgets.
About You
You're a Senior editorial leader and decision‐maker with excellent news judgement in a fast‐paced news environment, coupled with the natural leadership skills to guide our high performing team to boost audience engagement and influence content creation on multiple platforms.
You'll Have
* Advanced knowledge of production in a multi‐platform, breaking news environment, commissioning content for digital, mobile and broadcast platforms.
* High level of organisation, efficiency, communication and can confidently deliver feedback on content with a calm approach.
* Experience in audience data for insights and the latest trends in audience behaviour to influence content creation across digital, mobile, and broadcast platforms, reshaping it to appeal to audiences.
* Ability to identify and drive impactful and distinctive daily and real‐time content for all platforms, as well as breaking News.
