This role offers an exciting opportunity for a talented illustrator to collaborate on a therapeutic children's book designed for readers aged 8‐10 and their parents, carers, and educators. The project is led by an experienced psychologist and aims to create engaging, meaningful visuals that support the book's messages and themes. The illustrator will play a key role in shaping the visual narrative, working closely with the author to ensure the illustrations resonate with young audiences and align with the book's therapeutic goals. Some onsite collaboration in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia may be required, with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements. The project scope is for a single book, with the timeline and deliverables to be finalized in partnership with the author.

Deliverables

* Develop original, full‐color illustrations for a short children's book, including cover and interior pages.
* Collaborate with the author to conceptualize and refine visual storytelling elements.
* Create character designs and settings that are age‐appropriate and emotionally engaging.
* Prepare artwork files for print and digital formats, ensuring high‐quality resolution and color accuracy.
* Participate in feedback sessions and make revisions as needed to meet project objectives.
* Work within agreed timelines and communicate progress regularly.

Requirements

* Proven experience illustrating children's books or similar projects, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.
* Ability to convey complex emotions and messages through accessible, child‐friendly artwork.
* Proficiency in digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate) and traditional media.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with openness to feedback and iteration.
* Availability for some onsite meetings in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, with flexibility for remote work.
* Understanding of therapeutic or educational content for children is a plus.
* Reliable, self‐motivated, and able to manage project deadlines.
