We are seeking an experienced Data Modeller to play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining high-quality data models that drive our client's organisation
In this role, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution. You will ensure our data structures are scalable, secure, and compliant with governance standards. You will be instrumental in enabling advanced analytics, supporting our data strategy, and facilitating the adoption of data modeling standards across teams.
Responsibilities
:
* Model Design:
Delivering robust conceptual, logical, and physical data models (including star and snowflake schemas) that align with industry best practices.
* Architecture & Integration:
Providing expert advice on data architecture to facilitate effective integration across systems, specifically supporting ETL and data pipeline compatibility.
* Governance & Quality:
Ensuring all models support scalability, performance, and strict compliance with security and governance standards.
* Stakeholder Collaboration:
partnering with internal stakeholders to align data models with business objectives and reporting needs.
* Documentation:
Maintaining accurate documentation and metadata to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing.
* Continuous Improvement:
Driving the adoption of new modeling practices, tools, and quality assurance processes throughout the data lifecycle.
Requirements:
* Platforms: Proven experience with AWS, Snowflake, APIs, and Oracle.
* Modeling Tools: Proficiency with reverse engineering tools (e.g., ERwin, PowerDesigner, or open-source alternatives).
* ETL & Pipelines: Familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., dbt, Informatica, or custom SQL pipelines) and experience in DevOps environments.
* Database Mastery: Advanced understanding of database structure, theory, optimization, and SQL proficiency (including Snowflake-specific features).
Essential Soft Skills & Qualifications:
* Communication:
Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences to gain alignment.
* Problem Solving:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to balance complex business requirements with technical constraints.
* Agility:
A quick learner who can adapt to new technologies and work within continuous build/test systems.
* Education:
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
This role is a 12 month fixed term contract at $150,000 - $160,000 + Super, based in Sydney 2-3 Days in the Office.
