Our client is an Australian company specializing in the renewable energy sector, specifically focusing on distributed energy generation and storage. Currently they are looking to bring on board a Finance Analyst to report into the CFO.
The Finance Analyst plays an integral role in supporting investment, funding and strategic decision-making across the organisation. The role is responsible for evaluating potential projects, investments or transactions by assessing financial, technical, operational and risk considerations. The Finance Analyst will undertake detailed financial modelling and quantitasition will also contribute to the evaluation and screening of potential opportunities, preparation of internal recommendations and reports, stakeholder engagement, and the management of internal processes associated with project or investment assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Modelling
* Develop and maintain detailed financial models to assess potential projects, investments or transactions
* Perform quantitative analysis including cash flow forecasts, financial projections and sensitivity analysis
* Identify key financial and operational drivers that may impact project or investment performance
* Maintain and update financial modelling frameworks used by the team
Investment & Project Evaluation
* Conduct initial screening and evaluation of potential opportunities against relevant investment or funding criteria
* Undertake due diligence across financial, commercial and operational considerations
* Assess project risks and potential returns to support decision-making processes
* Support the structuring of transactions or funding arrangements to align with organisational objectives
Reporting & Documentation
* Prepare written analysis, investment summaries and due diligence reports
* Contribute to internal briefing papers, presentations and decision documentation
* Undertake industry research and analysis to support strategic insights
* Collate and analyse internal and external data to support project evaluations
Stakeholder Engagement
* Work collaboratively with internal teams including finance, commercial, technical and legal stakeholders
* Support discussions with external stakeholders including project developers, advisors and partners
* Assist with negotiations and the preparation of contractual documentation where required
Market & Portfolio Analysis
* Conduct market research to stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies and market developments
* Maintain awareness of the organisation's investment or project portfolio and performance metrics
* Manage multiple projects or workstreams across different stages of evaluation and development
Skills & Experience
Experience
* 2–4 years of experience in finance, investment analysis, consulting or a related analytical role
* Experience building and analysing financial models
* Exposure to project evaluation, investment analysis or due diligence processes is highly regarded
Technical Skills
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities
* Strong quantitative and analytical skills
* Understanding of financial analysis methodologies and commercial evaluation frameworks
* Ability to analyse complex financial and operational data

Qualifications
