About the Team The Deadly Ears Program leads Queensland Health's response to reducing the rates and impacts of middle ear disease and conductive hearing loss for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children across Queensland who currently have one of the highest rates of otitis media, or middle ear disease, in the world. Our services include: - Working in partner locations across rural and remote Queensland where we deliver frontline clinical services and build local capacity;- Coordinating policy and practice changes across the health, early childhood and education sectors;- Delivering workforce training and professional development for healthcare professionals and educators; and- Undertaking research to improve the prevention, treatment and management of middle ear disease and its impacts on early childhood development.The Deadly Ears Program consists of four teams; Administration, Primary Health, Allied Health and the Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgical Outreach Team which provides specialist outreach ENT clinics and surgeries for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with otitis media and associated conductive hearing loss. About the Role Opportunities to attend outreach are available where the Assistant in Nursing (AIN) assists and supports the Registered Nurse (RN) in the provision of direct/indirect person-centred care and co-ordinates. The AIN prepares the surgical and anaesthetic equipment and supplies required to deliver ENT outreach services to rural and remote communities. The AIN is responsible for providing nursing care in a professional, safe, and compassionate manner as a member of Deadly Ears Program healthcare team according to their education and competence. Autonomy - Work at all times under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse.- Work may be overseen by an Enrolled Nurse (EN)- Onsite supervision required.
