About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a values-driven and proactive Assistant Thrift Shop Manager to assist the Thrift Shop Manager to manage the recycling, retail, pick-up & delivery, and administrative functions of a Salvation Army Thrift Shop. This role will develop staff members in order to deliver surplus to support Corps activities as a valued mission expression of the ministry of the Salvation Army.
You will successfully
- Ensure administration of volunteer workplace compliance in SWD (VoM).
- Implement stock rotation and stock management processes to ensure optimal store stock levels are maintained to maximize sales and revenue
- Deliver excellence in customer service by responding to customer needs, training staff in best practice customer service and actively seeking opportunities to connect customers to TSA mission
- Assisting the Thrift Shop Manager in the recruitment, maintenance and direction of an excellent volunteer/employees force that run the store efficiently
- Coordinate Work for the Dole, WADEA, Corrections, or other similar community or Corporate volunteer resource programs
- Supervise volunteers, providing, guidance, direction and feedback
- Assist in the management of social media (Facebook and Instagram) for the store
- Assisting the Thrift Shop Manager with the store financial processes including budgets, completion of daily cash reconciliation, preparation of cash floats and banking
This is a casual position. Current fortnightly shifts are midweek days and Saturday (midweek days are negotiable).
You will have
- Demonstrated and relevant retail industry experience
- Experience in retail management desirable
- Demonstrated skills and experience in cash handling, financial management and team leadership
- Intermediate-Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and systems)
- Prior experience in a charitable recycling retail operation desirable
- Physical ability to safely sit, stand, walk regularly and for long periods of time
- Physical ability to push, pull, lift, carry items up to 10 kilos in weight.
- Physical ability to climb ladders
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
