Join our Urban Farm team on beautiful Christmas Island, where we produce fresh, hydroponically grown greens for the local community.
A Horticulturalist to bring technical expertise and hands‑on horticultural knowledge to our Urban Farm operation.
Working alongside our small and enthusiastic team, you’ll play a key role in optimising crop health and yield through your understanding of plant science, pest management, and hydroponic systems.
This role focuses on technical quality and continuous improvement — not people management — making it ideal for a skilled horticulturist who loves practical, applied work in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Supporting and guiding the Urban Farm team in all horticultural and hydroponic growing activities
- Monitoring and maintaining nutrient solutions, water quality, and environmental conditions
- Identifying and managing plant health issues, including pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies
- Developing and refining propagation, transplanting, pruning, and harvesting practices to optimise growth
- Ensuring hygiene and biosecurity standards are upheld, including regular system cleaning and sanitisation
- Assisting with trials and improvement projects to enhance yield, flavour, and sustainability
Qualifications
- Certificate III or higher in Horticulture, or equivalent industry experience
- Strong knowledge of plant nutrition, pest and disease management, and hydroponic or greenhouse systems
- Experience working in a production horticulture or hydroponics environment (preferred)
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
- A collaborative, hands‑on approach and a commitment to safety and quality
