Anticipated Study Hall Instructional Assistant at the High School. Effective May 12, 2026. Hours will be 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
TITLE: Instructional Assistant – Study Hall
CATEGORY: II - Assistants
REPORTS TO: Secondary Building Administration
JOB SUMMARY: To assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to students in the learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Possesses High School Diploma or Equivalency
* Assures compliance with Employment Eligibility, Criminal History Record, and Pre-Employment Drug Testing, and Physical Examination/TB Test Standard
* Demonstrates ability to meet "Highly Qualified" status under the No Child Left Behind legislation
o Associates Degree
o Forty-eight post-secondary credits
o Successful completion of District approved assessment
* Possesses experience working with children, including those with special needs, in an organized setting
* Possesses proficiency in the English language, with strong oral and written communication skills
* Possesses ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff, and the public
* Demonstrates ability to operate a computer, all software, and other office equipment as assigned
* Possesses ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
* Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others
* KNOWLEDGE OF:
o Child academic principles and practices
o Basic subjects including: mathematics, science, social studies, grammar, language and reading
o Basic instructional methods, techniques and practices
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Monitors and oversees student work, practices and assignments in various subjects
* Monitors and facilitates orderly arrival and dismissal of students
* Assures student understanding of study hall rules and procedures
* Assists students in completing assignments, homework, and projects; answer questions and provides proper examples; presents a friendly attitude and provide general guidance
* Assists students with special needs, when applicable
* Assists students in standardized and District testing
* Maintains regular and timely attendance
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others
* Attends meetings and training as assigned
* Performs related duties as assigned
