Offer description

Consumers of Mental Health WA (CoMHWA) is the peak body for consumers of mental health services in WA. As a community based not for profit organization, CoMHWA understands, listens and acts upon the voice of consumers of mental health and the wider community.

About the role

The Education & Training Officer, reporting to the Manager - Education and Training, develops, implements and delivers education and training initiatives that build the capacity of people with lived experience of mental health issues to be self-determined, self-empowered and respected. The role works collaboratively across CoMHWA to create new peer workforce pathways through training and capacity-building for peer workers and employers.

The Education & Training Officer also delivers training programs that build the capability of community organisations, local governments and services across Western Australia to understand and effectively work alongside people with lived experience of mental health issues.

This is achieved through tailored workshops, training, support and resources that reflect best-practice adult learning and are delivered in a psychologically safe, trauma-informed, person-centred and culturally appropriate manner.

In this busy environment, you will be supported by an organisation made up of various subject-matter experts, including systemic advocacy, system navigation, independent advocacy and sector representation and leadership. Your work will be informed by on-going consumer and sector engagement, co-design, focus groups, needs analysis, strategic and annual planning.

Mental health is a fast-moving sector, and this role will come with great variety and may see you lend a helping hand on projects and events throughout the year in addition to regular duties.
