We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Financial Controller to lead the financial function of a growing, capital‐intensive business operating in the construction sector. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and supporting long‐term business growth aligned with shareholder objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and execute the overall financial strategy in line with shareholder objectives and long‐term growth plans
* Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management in a capital‐intensive environment
* Structure and negotiate banking facilities, project funding, and debt arrangements
* Ensure liquidity stability across multiple project and development cycles
* Ensure full compliance with Australian accounting standards, taxation regulations, and audit requirements
* Strengthen internal controls, approval workflows, and documentation standards
* Lead external audit processes, tax planning, and regulatory reporting
* Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and strategic forecasts to senior stakeholders
* Finalise monthly balance sheets and ensure accuracy of financial reporting
* Prepare and maintain monthly KPIs to monitor business performance
* Conduct monthly cost reduction (ETS) meetings with middle and senior management
* Manage sensitive financial matters with discretion and sound executive judgment
* Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to drive accountability and high performance
* Build and implement scalable finance systems to support ongoing business growth
* Foster strong cross‐functional collaboration with operations and project teams
* Manage company insurance portfolio and liaise with brokers as required
About You
* MUST have proven experience in the construction industry (essential – applications without this will not be considered)
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader
* Strong understanding of cash flow management, project funding, and financial structuring
* In‐depth knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations
* Demonstrated experience managing audits and regulatory compliance
* Strong leadership capability with experience building and mentoring teams
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
* High level of commercial acumen and strategic thinking
