Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a trained professional who operates a wide variety of machine tools and also has skills to create set ups on lathes, and other complex machinery.
You will need to be strong, precise, and know how to read technical drawings, whilst paying close attention to detail.

You will be a trained tradesperson with the skills and knowledge to create tools, parts and objects by operating milling and drilling machines, and conventional lathes as well as CNC, in a machine shop.
It is an extremely precise job, requiring the machinist to make cuts to at least one-thousandth of an inch.Positive approach to workplace safetyPerform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damagesCheck output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defectsMaintains a safe and clean workstationContributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as neededTeaches knowledge and experience of trade to new staff as requiredAbout youYou will command a high level of machining experience.You will bring demonstrated success and enthusiasm in providing exceptional machining experience to ensure a quality product for our customers.The successful candidate must demonstrate –Technical, mechanical background preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong presentation skills and professional appearanceStrong organisational skillsWillingness to be flexible and adaptableAdditionally, you will be;Mechanical aptitude for workshop dutiesThe ability to perform routine and non-routine tasks with an eye for small details and a high degree of accuracyThe ability to work independently and exercise initiative within the appropriate scope of the roleA work ethic which includes a willingness to learn and undertake professional development activities including on the job training and training with professional associationsEvidence and experience using a range of computing software, including databases and MS Office applicationsGood verbal and written communication skillsAbility to juggle competing demands, ensuring that deadlines are metAbility to work cooperatively and respectfully with others from various backgrounds and culturesFlexible and adaptable with ability to problem solve and multi-taskStrong organisation skills, with ability to prioritise and follow throughFoster a trusting, inclusive and mutually supportive environment and treat each individual with dignity, integrity and respectContribute to a culture that promotes the safety and wellbeing of all employeesJohn Valves values our team and you will become part of our working family.
