You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. The team collaborates across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
Amazon is looking for experienced Network Development Engineers to drive the operations of one of the world's and most complex networks. The role supports the company's expansion while maintaining quality and reliability and developing innovative ways to operate the network.
Key job responsibilities
* Support and maintain our next‑generation networks.
* Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
* Partner with the broader Technical Operations organization to reduce operational burden.
* Work closely with the broader Network Engineering & Deployment teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments.
* Drive standards across the network and ensure full compliance with those standards and policies.
* Participate and drive impact mitigation during large‑scale events using the established Event Management process.
* Lead event deep dives for large‑scale events, produce high‑quality documentation and drive corrective actions to completion.
* Improve detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new alerts.
* Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues for full resolution.
* Create and review documentation and processes related to recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge‑transfer material, etc.
* Troubleshoot interconnectivity issues, including network device configuration and low‑level application interaction.
* Identify and drive opportunities to automate repeatable tasks through the creation and maintenance of scripts and tools.

Basic Qualifications
* Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience applying IP protocols.
* Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting.
* Experience in major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
* Experience with Unix and scripting in Perl, shell, C, or C++.
* Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work toward resolution.
* Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.
* Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
