Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.Base pay rangeA$105,000.00/yr - A$116,000.00/yrFull time 3 years fixed term, located on the Camperdown Campus in the School of Life and Environmental SciencesJoin an exciting collaborative research group in the Faculty of ScienceAbout the opportunityWe are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic PhD graduate to work on rates of evolution in flowering plants. The successful candidate will be part of the Molecular Ecology, Evolution, and Phylogenetics Lab, led by Professor Simon Ho and Professor Nathan Lo. The position is funded by the Australian Research Council Discovery Project "The biological drivers of evolutionary rate variation" and involves collaboration with colleagues at the Botanic Gardens of Sydney.Your key responsibilities will be to:lead research projects on rates of evolution in flowering plantsanalyse large genomic data sets from flowering plants to address key questions in evolutionary biologywork effectively as part of a team and collaborate with external researcherspresent the results of the research at seminars and conferenceswrite papers for publication in peer-reviewed journalsThe School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is a large and research-active school with expertise in ecology, evolutionary biology, conservation, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and agriculture. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate who has:a PhD in Macroecology, Macroevolution, or closely related disciplinestrong analytical skills in macroecology and/or macroevolutionstrong experience in analysing and curating large data sets, including genomic datastrong experience in using R for genetic analyses and biological modellingexperience in using genomic pipelines and high-performance computing resourcesdemonstrated independence in conducting research and other scholarly activities.Work RightsYou must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
