About the role
As a Support Worker at Able Disability Support Services, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals living with disabilities to live an independent and fulfilling life. In this casual position, you will provide essential support and assistance to our clients in the Newcastle, Medowie, Raymond Terrace, Maitland and surrounding areas, helping them to achieve their personal goals and participate actively in their local community.
What you'll be doing
1. Assisting clients with their daily living activities, meal preparation, and domestic housekeeping
2. Accompanying clients to appointments, social events, and community activities to promote their involvement and independence
3. Providing emotional support and companionship to clients, while encouraging their participation in meaningful activities
4. Documenting client progress and reporting any changes in their wellbeing to the wider support team
5. Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety protocols to ensure the highest standards of care and support
6. Travel to Raymond Terrace, Medowie and Newcastle areas for supports
What we're looking for
1. Previous experience in a support worker or similar role, preferably within the disability or aged care sectors
2. A genuine passion for supporting individuals with diverse needs and a commitment to promoting their independence and quality of life
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and empathise with clients
4. A flexible and adaptable approach, able to respond to the unique needs and preferences of each client
5. Mature minded and reliability is a must
6. Relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent, are highly desirable
7. A current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential
