Prison officers play a vital role in maintaining public safety and delivering rehabilitative services within the correctional environment.

The key responsibilities of this position involve ensuring the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors. This includes conducting regular patrols, searches, and managing caseloads while maintaining accurate documentation.

In addition to these core duties, prison officers are expected to foster positive relationships with colleagues, managers, and external stakeholders, contributing to a healthy and inclusive work environment.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have completed the Corrections Victoria Prison Officer Pre-service Training Program and possess a full Victorian driver's license. A Certificate III in Correctional Practices is highly desirable but not essential.

This is a uniformed position that requires shift work and involves working 24/7, including public holidays. Successful applicants will be required to undergo comprehensive training to ensure they are equipped to manage the demands of this role.

The department prioritizes employee health and wellbeing, requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement.
