Job Description
How you'll make a difference
We have a diverse growth opportunity for a Senior Electrical Designer to join our Resources + Industry team in Townsville. You will contribute to the planning, modelling and documentation of electrical systems, ensure quality and compliance with relevant Australian standards, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver best-for-project outcomes. You will also support junior team members and help drive efficiency, innovation and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer who enjoys technical challenges, client interaction, and contributing to high-performing project teams.
You'll be involved in all phases of project delivery and participate in some of the following:
* Perform advanced electrical design and drafting using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise and related design tools.
* Develop concept designs with minimal supervision and ensure safety and innovation are embedded early.
* Produce high-quality drawings, models and documentation aligned with AECOM's workflows and quality standards.
* Identify and resolve design clashes by collaborating with engineering and drafting partners.
* Manage your own work scope, schedule and deliverables, including small project components.

Qualifications

* Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar (required).
* 5+ years' experience in electrical design and drafting for mining, industrial or heavy‑industry projects.
* Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards and guidelines.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise and MS Office.
Experience across areas such as materials handling, pump stations, mine services, ventilation, and fuel/oil infrastructure.
