About the role
We're seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the end-to-end payroll function across the JPL Group. You'll manage a team of six and oversee fortnightly payroll for 4,000–5,000 retail team members, as well as monthly payroll for Support Office, ensuring full compliance with awards, agreements and legislation.

What will you do?
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 4,000–5,000 team members using Dayforce and Chris21, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Ensure timely and accurate submissions to the ATO, including Single Touch Payroll (STP) and other statutory reporting.
Oversee superannuation, leave, termination payments, workers' compensation, and employment-related tax obligations.
Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and bank and provide accurate reporting and payroll analysis to key stakeholders.
Lead, coach, and support a team of six payroll professionals, driving performance and continuous development.
Maintain and improve payroll systems, processes, and controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Collaborate with HR, IT, and Finance to deliver process improvements and system upgrades.
Provide timely support for employee payroll queries, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
What skills and experience do you need?
Minimum 3 years' experience managing a payroll team in a high-volume environment, ideally within retail or multi-site operations.
Strong understanding of employment legislation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements.
Proven leadership skills with experience in coaching and developing payroll teams.
Experience working with payroll and time & attendance systems, preferably Dayforce and Chris21.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for payroll reporting and analysis.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in payroll, finance, human resources, or a related discipline are highly desirable.
