Job Description
Operating under direct supervision, this position participates in a range of activities relating to the department including asset maintenance, fire management, conservation, parks and visitor services (PVS) and joint management, with remote and overnight work.
This position offers training and learning opportunities for Aboriginal people; preference is given to local community members or approved Aboriginal community applicants.

Responsibilities
* Participate in the maintenance and construction of recreation sites and visitor facilities.
* Engage in flora and fauna protection and fire suppression and control.
* Assist in parks and visitor services operations.
* Work remotely and overnight as required.
Selection Criteria and Qualifications
* Ability to undertake on‐ground and field‐based activities related to site maintenance, construction, and conservation management.
* Understanding and commitment to health and safety procedures, with willingness to wear prescribed safety equipment and work safely with certified chemicals.
* Physically fit for operational fire work and able to pass the departmental fire fitness test.
* Availability for fire service consistent with the AWU Agreement 2024 and prevailing industrial agreements, including regular participation in fire availability rosters on weekends and out of hours; willingness to participate in bushfire suppression and prescribed burning operations.
* Experience in machine operation and safe operation of chainsaws, brush cutters and common power tools. (Desirable)
* Fire‐fighting experience and certification. (Desirable)
* Willingness and ability to work away from home, often for extended periods in remote locations, and to work weekend and irregular hours.
* Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence (Essential) or Current 'MR' or 'HR' Class Driver's Licence. (Desirable)
* Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills, including the ability to read and understand maps and follow guidelines, procedures, and relevant legislation.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team and with limited supervision.
* Understanding of equity and diversity principles and practices.
* Other skills or qualifications related to the position, such as 1080 baiting certificate, firearms, animal trapping, accredited faller, first aid certificate, and common trade skills. (Desirable)
