Are you an organised and analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking an Insurance Claims Officer to join the Insurable Risk team within Corporate Governance.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing complex insurance and legal matters while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
About The Role
The Insurable Risk Unit operates as a centralised claims management service for the District, managing a broad range of insurance matters including public liability, property, miscellaneous claims, VMO notifications and supporting administrative processes for Coronial investigations and inquests.
You will ensure claims are managed efficiently, documentation is maintained accurately, and legislative and organisational timeframes are met.
Key Responsibilities
Manage insurance claims across the District from commencement through to resolutionAnalyse complex information to support effective claims management and decision-makingLiaise with internal managers, insurers, and legal providers to coordinate claims and legal mattersMaintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with legislative and organisational requirementsCoordinate and monitor litigated matters, coronial inquests and related documentationSupervise and support the Insurance Administration OfficerIdentify opportunities to improve systems and processes to enhance efficiency and compliance
About You
We are looking for a proactive and highly organised professional who can manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
You Will Bring
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex informationExcellent time management and organisational skills in a high-volume environmentHigh-level written and verbal communication skillsExperience managing stakeholders and building effective working relationshipsExperience supervising or supporting staffThe ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomesExperience in insurance claims, legal administration, governance, risk management or a related environment will be highly regarded.
About The Team
The Insurable Risk Unit is a small, supportive team of three staff who work collaboratively to deliver positive outcomes for the District. Based at Waratah Campus, the team works closely with internal stakeholders, insurers and legal providers to ensure claims are managed effectively and professionally.
