**About the Role**

We are focused on providing quality Welfare and Engagement (W&E) services and support that provide people in detention with skills, confidence, and opportunities to proactively maintain their health and wellbeing whilst they reside in immigration detention.

The Case Worker is an integral member of the Welfare and Engagement Team ensuring overall operational excellence is achieved. Using a strengths-based approach, the Case Worker will provide coordinate case management services to vulnerable people in immigration detention facilities.

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- Qualifications to at least diploma or bachelor's degree in Social Work, Case Management, Psychology, Counselling, Social Sciences, Behavioural Science, Community Services or similar human services field
- Minimum of 2 years' (full time equivalent) experience in delivering case management, counselling or similar support for vulnerable adults or families (highly desirable)
- Experience in effective assessment and individualised case planning and coordination ideally with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds as well as people who may have had recent experience in the criminal justice system (highly desirable)
- Experience working in a trauma-informed manner to support people experiencing complex health and mental health challenges
- Well-developed negotiation, influencing and motivational skills
- Strong leadership, organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
- Maintain a current Working with Children Certificate in accordance with the relevant state or territory child protection legislation
- Hold and maintain HLTAID009 Provide CPR and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificates with at least 6 months of currency on the certificate
- Unrestricted current Drivers Licence
- This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a national police check as an essential selection component for this role._

You have a professional and friendly manner as well as the ability to effectively navigate internal and external stakeholder relationships within a complex and dynamic environment. You successfully manage and ensure satisfaction of all stakeholders including the people in detention.

You are a respectful and professional leader who demonstrates strong integrity and a commitment to ethical practice. You are passionate about co-developing effective strategies that support vulnerable people to achieve and maintain their optimum welfare.

You will demonstrate a flexible mind set, able to lead local case management service delivery and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to support and maintain positive team culture. You are emotionally resilient, adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress such as family, health or workplace stressors, through maintaining your individual self-care and psychological wellbeing practices.

You have the flexibility to work across different locations and to occasionally work out of business hours based on business needs.
