Our client, a leading national brand in its sector, is seeking a Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary basis, with the potential for permanency. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to manage higher-level duties and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our payroll function.
About the role
You will be a vital part of the team, managing not just the day-to-day processing but also informing and contributing to the efficiency and compliance of the payroll. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing for a high volume of employees, including new hires, terminations, leave, and salary changes.
- Processing and reconciling payroll-related accounts, including superannuation, PAYG withholding, and payroll tax.
- Preparing and submitting payroll tax returns and other statutory reporting.
- Coordinating superannuation clearing house management and ensuring compliance with all superannuation obligations.
- Generating payroll reports for internal stakeholders, including Finance and management.
- Resolving complex payroll queries and providing guidance on entitlements and legislation.
- Maintaining data integrity and ensuring compliance with relevant awards and statutory requirements.
About you
We are looking for a highly capable and proactive Payroll Officer with experience in a similar role. You should be detail-oriented, have strong analytical skills, and be comfortable handling higher-level duties. You'll bring:
- Proven experience in an end-to-end payroll role, with exposure to higher-level duties such as payroll tax and superannuation.
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience with high-volume payroll processing for a large headcount.
- The ability to work autonomously and manage your workload efficiently.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
