Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Special Counsel to help grow our litigation practice. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in complex commercial litigation, with a strong interest or experience in emerging areas such as cryptocurrency disputes, insolvency litigation, and financial services regulatory enforcement. This role offers the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the litigation team, manage high-stakes matters, and contribute meaningfully to the firm's leadership and growth.
This position is for someone with the intention to move to Partner level.
This role will be based out of our head office in Gold Coast, Australia.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage complex litigation matters across commercial, regulatory, and financial sectors.
· Provide strategic legal advice on disputes involving digital assets, blockchain technologies, and cryptocurrency platforms. (Experience within Crypto is not essential)
· Represent clients in insolvency-related proceedings, including liquidations, administrations, and bankruptcy litigation.
· Advise financial institutions and corporate clients on regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, and compliance disputes.
· Drive business development and build a robust client portfolio in litigation and dispute resolution.
· Mentor and develop junior lawyers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative team culture.
· Contribute to firm-wide strategy, governance, and operational leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
· Admitted to practice law in Australia and in good standing with the relevant legal authority.
· Minimum 6–10 years post-admission experience in commercial litigation, with exposure to cryptocurrency, insolvency, or financial services litigation considered advantageous.
· Proven track record of managing complex disputes and achieving successful outcomes.
· Strong client relationship skills and ability to attract and retain high-value clients.
· Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
