About the role
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse – Perioperative (Obs, Gynae & Urology) to join our team in a full-time, maximum term (12 months) capacity.
Based at our modern Mater Hospital Springfield campus, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing perioperative service, contributing to high-quality patient care while supporting the ongoing development of a collaborative and high‐performing team.
In this role, you will provide advanced clinical care while supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in leading day‐to‐day operations and driving quality outcomes across the perioperative unit. You will:
* Deliver high-quality, patient‐centred nursing care across the perioperative environment
* Utilise advanced clinical assessment skills to develop and implement individualised care plans
* Support the Nurse Unit Manager with team leadership, rostering, and resource coordination
* Contribute to staff education, coaching, and professional development within the unit
* Promote and uphold National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards in all aspects of care
* Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities
* Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and support effective decision‐making in complex situations
* Foster strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams, VMOs, and key stakeholders
About you
You are a confident and capable Clinical Nurse who brings strong perioperative experience and a passion for delivering safe, high‐quality patient care. You will bring:
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
* Minimum three years' clinical experience within a relevant perioperative specialty (Obs, Gynae or Urology highly desirable)
* Demonstrated ability to provide advanced clinical care and manage complex patient presentations
* Proven leadership capability, with experience supporting or mentoring nursing teams
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
* Commitment to continuous improvement, evidence‐based practice, and patient‐centred care
* Ability to adapt to change and contribute positively within a growing and evolving service
* Advanced Life Support certification (or willingness to obtain)
