About the role
Curtin University is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Test Analyst to join our Digital & Technology Solutions team. In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality systems and solutions across both project and BAU initiatives, supporting the University's commitment to excellence in digital services.
As a Test Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and functionality of our technology platforms. You’ll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams - including Business Analysts, Product Owners, developers, and technical specialists - to plan, execute, and continuously improve testing activities in an Agile/DevOps environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to backlog refinement and sprint planning ensuring testing readiness.
- Identify, analyse, and document defects, assess their potential impact, and support effective regression testing.
- Create and maintain traceability matrices to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to interpret requirements and support high-quality delivery.
- Provide insights based on previous releases to improve testing outcomes for future sprints.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimise tools, methodologies, and processes.
- Demonstrate adaptability, a learning mindset, and a strong contribution to the Testing Practice’s ways of working.
Selection Criteria:
- A relevant degree and/or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies and strategies, particularly within Agile and DevOps environments, including hands-on experience testing in AWS.
- Experience executing a broad range of testing types, including regression, smoke, functional, system integration, UAT, and production verification.
- Ability to test across UI, REST APIs (Postman/ReadyAPI), and AWS data integrity.
- Demonstrated experience preparing test cases, scenarios, and scripts based on business requirements.
- Experience using industry-standard testing tools for test execution and defect management.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and use problem-solving skills to deliver practical solutions.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team to coordinate and execute test phases.
- ISTQB certification (required).
Desirable:
- Experience in the higher education sector or understanding of ICT use in universities.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.
