Group and Team: Stormwater and Waterways Group, Stormwater Team Location: Council Centre Employment status: Permanent, Full-time Classification: Municipal Officer Level 3 Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreeme nt 2024 Salary range: $91,138 to $99,635 per annum 13.5% superannuation. About the role As a Stormwater Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the management of Hobart's stormwater systems and waterways. This position combines technical expertise, investigative work, and customer service to ensure the effective operational and maintenance of critical infrastructure. You'll work closely with internal teams, contractors, and the community to deliver practical solutions, provide technical advice, and contribute to planning and improvement projects that safeguard out city's environment and assets. Role accountabilities include: Gather and analyse data to investigate flooding and stormwater performance issues, informing system planning and improvements. Respond to customer enquiries and complaints, providing accurate information and updating asset management and GIS systems. Process stormwater connection applications, inspect installations, and ensure compliance with approved plans and standards Support operational and maintenance programs for stormwater and waterway assets, including inspections and performance assessments. Offer assistance with stormwater modelling, mapping, and project scoping to enhance asset management and future planning. You thrive in a role that blends technical problem-solving with customer service and collaboration. Your ability to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly, and maintain attention to detail ensures you can support both operations and strategic outcomes for Hobart's stormwater systems. What you'll bring: Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering or similar qualification (or equivalent experience in civil drainage or plumbing) and a solid understanding of industry standards. A current Driver's Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employee) Proven ability to build positive relationships with internal teams, contractors, and the community, demonstrating empathy and professionalism. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to explain technical concepts and resolve issues collaboratively. Practical experience in hydraulic engineering or drainage systems, including investigation, planning, and maintenance of assets. Competence in GIS software for mapping and analysis, with strong organisational skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines independently.
