About the Role
As a Senior Engineer, you will:
Provide expert advice on engineering aspects of development applications.
Review and assess infrastructure plans, ensuring compliance with Council’s engineering standards.
Inspect construction works to ensure quality and conformance.
Collaborate across disciplines and represent the team in key stakeholder meetings, including pre-lodgement discussions.
Mentor and coach junior engineers to build technical and professional capability.
Lead initiatives that streamline processes and drive continuous improvement.
Resolve complex or sensitive matters with professionalism, integrity, and clarity.

What You Bring
We’re looking for someone with the technical capability, leadership qualities, and drive to succeed. You will need to demonstrate:
1. Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Civil Engineering (recognised university)
Extensive experience in development engineering
Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia
White Card (or willingness to obtain)
C Class Driver’s Licence
2. Strong Organisational & Project Management Skills
Ability to manage multiple, complex projects with autonomy
Experience developing operational procedures and process improvements
3. Technical Expertise
In-depth knowledge of subdivision and development engineering
Familiarity with planning legislation (e.g. Planning Act 2016) and technical standards
Experience assessing and approving engineering plans, inspecting works, and applying compliance standards
4. Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Clear communicator who provides practical, solution-focused advice
Committed to delivering high-quality customer service and stakeholder engagement
5. Leadership & Mentoring
Proven ability to lead by example, mentor team members, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
6. Alignment with Council Values
Demonstrated accountability and commitment to upholding organisational values and behaviours
