Canberra’s urban forest comprises a diverse combination of evergreen and deciduous trees that provide important ecological and amenity advantages for its inhabitants and wildlife. Urban Treescapesmanages and maintains more than 846,000 trees on parklands and streets throughout ACT. Specific responsibilities include the planting, watering, and follow up maintenance of newly planted trees; the maintenance of established trees; the removal of dead and dying trees, the provision of technical advice on tree related matters and collaboration with other business units to support the urban forest over time. The Coordinator, Tree Assets is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of tree removal, planting and watering programs. This position coordinates tree services procurement, finance reporting and assists with the coordination of community engagement processes associated with the above activities. This position also liaises with and manages the contractors undertaking the above services. The successful applicant will have a passion for trees and an understanding of the importance of teamwork and great customer service. Tertiary qualifications appropriate to the scope of activities to be performed, such as horticulture and arboriculture are preferred.
