Lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering acute mental health and ATOD services across North West Queensland. As the Nurse Unit Manager – Acute Care Service, you'll drive clinical excellence, strengthen pathways to recovery, and contribute to service-wide quality and innovation.
About The Role
The Nurse Unit Manager – Acute Care Service (ACS) plays a key leadership role within the Mental Health, Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Service (MHATODS). This position oversees a specialised team delivering acute assessment, crisis intervention, early intervention, and short‐term treatment to support individuals experiencing mental health and substance‐related crises. You'll lead the operational, clinical, human, and financial management of the ACS to ensure safe, high‐quality, person‐centred care.
* Provide advanced clinical and professional leadership, ensuring evidence‐based, recovery‐focused acute mental health and ATOD services.
* Drive service quality, workforce development, financial governance, and continuous improvement across the ACS team.
* Strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration and support integrated pathways across MHATODS and external partners.
Working with us
* For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,605. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$10,815... and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,210 (pro rata for part time employees).
In your downtime
we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.

Plus 2 weeks p.a., travel as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.
We also offer staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Requirements
* Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
* C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
* Pre‐employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
* This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
* A period of probation may apply.
